From Garbage to Gold

My name is Paul Punshon and I live in Muskoka,Ontario,Canada and i bought a junkyard 3 years ago for the purpose of building an earthship on site and pretty well all of the building material was already there. I have been cleaning and sorting out the junk(which i prefer to call gold). Everyday is like a treasure hunt with so many odd,antique and useful items to reuse in the earthship. I also get cans from local schools,garbage bags full every week and hope to implement school trips so the students can get involved and see where there cans are going.I have been hauling away literally tons of scrap metal which pays me to clean up my property,neighbours from all over stop and thank me for cleaning up because their real estate values are normalizing again,the town said they should name a street after me,because the previous owner was so far behind in property taxes,that it would have cost them more to clean it up than what they could have sold it for,I have building plans stamped by an arcitecht and engineer and so excited about rounding up some help and start pounding tires this spring,at first people called me crazy,now they call me genious;)
It just goes to show ya,in this case,the earthship concept is so amazing and such a positive win win win solution before it is even built

I also wanted to mention that i have been a conventional home builder for the last 10 years,but this whole experience  of mine has brought me to realize the need to become a green home builder.To give back,educate and support others,it has actually become spiritual,it feels so good.
