Infinite Solutions Institute hosts 2½-day design/build course with visionary sustainability architect and star of the documentary film “Garbage Warrior” Michael Reynolds
HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA On April 12-14, 2013, just prior to Earth Day celebrations, Infinite Solutions Institute will host a weekend training with legendary sustainability pioneer, documentary film star and creator of Earthship Biotecture, Michael Reynolds.
Imagine a home that: heats and cools itself; provides its own food and water; generates its own power; handles its own sanitation; works in harmony with the intelligence of the earth and is made predominantly from recycled materials. This home is called an Earthship, and its technology —which goes beyond merely “green” to actually generative — has been refined through 40 years' hands-on experience worldwide.
American architect Michael Reynolds, founder of the ‘Earthship’ movement is visiting Christchurch to offer innovative ideas for Christchurch’s rebuilding process.
“Mother nature’s recent behaviour is changing and traditional ‘built cheap and fast’ commodity-housing clearly is not coping. Here we have a housing solution that doesn’t just cope, it loves nature.” says Reynolds, who will be delivering a series of public talks and workshops about ‘Earthships’ - modern off-grid houses made out of cans, bottles and tyres, as well as conventional materials.
Over 6 days in Christchurch this March, Michael Reynolds will bring his 40 years of Sustainable Architecture experience to the table to present alternative structural designs to Christchurch residents.
His trip will include a 3 day practical workshop, 3 evening seminars, a lecture for architecture students, an onsite retrofit talk in North Canterbury as well as other meetings with organizations.

a start to finish build/workshop with Earthship Acamedy graduate, Duuvy Jester
Hello there, one and all! Thank you for gathering here to read about an upcoming opportunity to learn about the wonders of Biotecture. We are going to be conducting a start to finish build in Queensland, Australia. The Earthship design concept and systems are going to be applied to the subtropical climate of the area. The cement content is going to be replaced with hempcrete. Hempcrete is a masonry that is made from hemp fibers and a lime based binder. It is light weight, low embodied energy and does not require kiln baking. This is going to be the first building of its type to be built using hemp. Exciting times! The site is on a residential permaculture plot. We would like to invite you to come and get involved.
There is space for camping with solar bag showers and toilet facilities, but if you can only come out for a weekend or a day feel free.
