Well... week 3 is in the books.  It was a very productive week for the Academy.  On top of the construction work we accomplished this week, we also had our first set of labs.  In the labs, we got to build the WOM (water organizing module) and POM (power organizing module) from scratch with the help of Earthship crew specialists guiding us along the way.

My first blog post is starting a little late.  I'll do my best to catch you guys up to date.  It's week 3 and we've already progressed a ton in terms of classroom education, our build in the Greater World Community (they call it GDub), and the friendships within the Academy and crew.  Heeeerewego!

I gotta say it was a tough day (Ice Cube style). We had class in the morning and construction work in the afternoon.  It got a lil' toasty out on the mesa.

Earthship Australia Duuvy JesterThe time has come to get serious about sustainability. We have had over 200 years of resource pillaging, growth addiction and economic aerobics. We have divided and conquered. Harmony is long overdue. Lets turn plagiarism into collaboration and thrive just as nature intended it.

Join Duuvy Jester for a fun, informative talk in the heart of Brunswick. He will be discussing the philosophy, science, physics and practicalities that live within the belly of the world that is Earthship. Hear all about his experiences in the Earthship academy out on the mesa in Taos, New Mexico.

Went to the Academy last night to pick up stuff for the seminar.
Ended up eating dinner with everyone. Took a couple pix but want to go back some evening with my bigger camera at sunset. The students are an amazing group of people. We ate a homemade vegetarian meal by candlelight. They have the big candelabra and candle chandelier going.
It was beautiful...we talked and laughed and I felt so lucky to be with them.

Hi, my name is Rachel and I am a recent academy graduate from Melbourne, Australia.

I’ve been asked to write down my story.  It’s always been natural for me to tell stories hence writing it down, and as a bit of a retrospective, is a bit out of my field of experience but probably not a far stretch.  As many of my academy classmates can tell you, going to Taos and learning from the masters of Earthships in that crazy environment is a really rewarding and unforgetable experience.

Since this whole Earthship thing has taken off in the past few years, particularly in Australia, I’ve felt the urge to get off my ass and get involved.  And that’s pretty much what happened.  I first heard of Earthships about 6 years ago.  Saw the film maybe 3 years ago, joined the then fledgling Melbourne group 2 years ago and now find myself trying to get things off the ground in Melbourne and across Australia, uniting a very diverse but committed group of people in their desires to see an Earthship (and really a whole lot of them) dotted around the Australian landscape.  Well before I get too far ahead of myself, in my past life (and when I need a bit of cash) I have worked as an historian, hence my brain and narratives work better chronologically.

Well i was there tonight in Bond uni and I wanted to say thank you for the good thing you do.

May the seed you put in people's head grow as much as you inspire people , I have built a house on my own with mud and bottles and cans and other recycled materials and I am really concern about what I could do better for our mother earth Pachamama.

Thanks for her, thanks for what you've done in Haiti.

One common question we hear while considering to attend the new Earthship Academy is 'How will one apply their Earthship Academy Certification after it has been earned?' This question stems from the curiosity of how the Earthship technology will bridge with the old system. That question doesn't have an answer yet, but we are excited to see the transition.
