NEW DONATION GOAL FOR MALAWI PROJECT: $60,000 For materials needed for the local people to continue building the Kapita Earthship Community Center after the EB crew and volunteers leave on October 20th.
The project is to become a sustainable development epicenter for 38 villages and over 5,000 rural people in South East Mzimba district in Malawi. The Kapita Earthship Community Centre is to house a community bank, a library, a dispensary, offices and a food bank.
The local people of Kapita and the surrounding villages will be training alongside Michael Reynolds and members of the Earthship crew, former Academy Students and over 60 volunteers during the two week project launch.
Partnering with local non-profit, Empower Malawi, Earthship Biotecture and all of those involved in the project will complete two of the eight rooms in the center over the course of two weeks. The other six rooms will be continued and will raise the money for materials.
Earthship construction drawings are designed to meet standard building code requirements so you can get a permit no matter where you are. Earthship Biotecture is beyond LEED Architecture. Earthships are green buildings that meet standard building codes. EarthshipBiotecture is based on the work of principal architect, Michael Reynolds. (see: media resume)
