As with other earthship construction

As with other earthship construction projects, Walter was paid a few dollars for each tire that he was able to incorporate into this building. That money came in handy when it came time to purchase some of the other building materials, i.e. the windows around the perimeter. We were impressed that he extensively used reclaimed material throughout, sourced from a local salvaging business. For instance, the pictured 'window' is actually a retail cooler door (i.e. from a floral or grocery store) turned and mounted on its side. It was exciting to learn that Walter built this structure mostly by himself, having only read about earthships in a couple of books and seeing a short video! http://ecotourofnorthamerica.blogspot.com/2007/04/as-with-other-earthship-construction.html
