Easter Island Build Opportunity
  1. Earthship Academy Global Session
    Easter Island
    November 17-December 12, 2014

We are thrilled to announce our second ever Earthship Academy Global Session. The Earthship Academy offers extensive training in Earthship design principles, construction methods and philosophy. The Earthship Academy has trained over 400 students from around the world. We are building an Earthship Army and the Academy offers education for those who are excited to learn and expand the Earthship concept globally. This is only the second time we are offering a session outside our headquarters in Taos, New Mexico.

We will teach hands-on building techniques and Earthship design and systems classes while constructing a 2 classrooms of an 8 classroom Earthship flower design building. This structure is going to be a music school for local children. A non-profit group based on Easter Island is currently fundraising for the materials for the project. See more on the project here: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/earthship-music-school-on-easter-island-toki

Tuition for the course is $2000 USD. We request a $500 deposit to secure your place in the program with the balance of tuition due before September 15, 2014. Michael Reynolds will teach in the field and in the classroom along with 10 Earthship Academy instructors from Taos.

There will be camping available near the site. Students are responsible for their own transportation and food.

    Fundraising for Materials

Earthship Biotecture currently working with a non-profit called Toki Rapa Nui to build a flower design Earthship to be used as a music school with free classes for local children on Easter Island. This school would give the children of the island free music classes and help them develop the discipline necessary to avoid common problems that plague the youth of the island…drugs, alcohol, vagrancy… It would have the dual benefit of exposing them to methods of sustainable living and ways to address the island’s problems of resource depletion and garbage.

Toki Rapa Nui has started their own crowdfunding campaign to raise money for materials for the first stage of the build.

The goal is to bring the Earthship team to the island to build 2 of the planned 8 classrooms for the school.

If they are able to secure funding for materials we are considering turning the build itself into an Earthship Academy Global Session. This would be a month long session with hands-on training and lectures by Michael Reynolds and the Earthship Academy faculty. For those who attend this session would count as one of the three elements towards graduation from the Earthship Academy. We do not yet have potential dates for this session but will contact you as soon as we do.

On behalf of Toki Rapa Nui we thank you in advance for your support!
