- "It's great to hear some good discussion about sustainable design; specifically sustainable housing. Having designed and built the most sustainable, recycled, efficient and beautiful house as I could to live in, I cannot speak highly enough of the practice. Even the most basic principle of facing the glass north with a good eave and some thermal mass for a floor turns the humble house into a finely tuned celestial machine that lifts the quality of life within it. We desperately need new laws to make the designs, the construction and the embodied and running energy of our buildings much more sustainable. The current "Five star" requirements are a farce, with the eaveless black roofs festooned with huge coolers that ring our cities as proof."
