Michael Reynolds on Colbert inspires Earthship 2010 Even
Zack Anderson had never heard of Earthships or Michael Reynolds until he saw Mike on the Stephen Colbert show.
But watching that segment inspired him and his friends Gabriel Contreras and Mike Yatskievych to bring awareness about Earthships to their college and community in El Paso, Texas.
They started researching Earthships a year ago and recently traveled to Taos, New Mexico to rent the Phoenix Earthship in order to get a first hand experience of living in a completely self-sustainable, off-the-grid green home.
Their research and efforts culminate April 21 when they will host a day of music, art, and sustainability at El Paso Community College. They will show videos of Michael Reynolds and Earthships and provide information on how to build your own house made out of earth-rammed tires.
According to Zack, “Before I saw Mike Reynolds on Colbert, I felt like, well, what can one person do? Then I saw what one person could do, so the idea for the Earthship Awareness event for Earth Day 2010 stemmed from that.”
