Earthship rentals in Winter

Drifting snow, gray days, ice on the roads. Who’s afraid of wintertime in an Earthship? The indoor temperature of an Earthship should stay at an average of 68 degrees year round. (Your climate may vary.) Some Earthship's do have fireplaces for ambiance but many have no back up heating system at all. This is quite a testament to true functionality here at this high altitude, in Taos, NM. For some, no dial to adjust the heat may seem a little disconcerting at first, but over time the beauty of arriving at a building that is warm inside with no help from any type of fossil-fuel is something you wish all people could share. |

| There are things that need to be done to maintain our Earthship rentals during the winter months, solar panels must be swept off after storms so the sun may reach them sooner, batteries must have their water levels checked regularly (year round) and any gaps or cracks should be weather sealed as in any building. We have staff on hand to shovel walkways and plow the Community roads as needed. We are also maintaining the indoor planters as usual in the Phoenix, Corner Cottage and Studio Earthships. |  |

If you have any question regarding what, exactly, the kitchens are stocked with, just call us at 575-751-0462 The Community itself is 30 minutes from the Taos Ski Valley and 20 minutes from the town of Taos on Highway 64 West. A 4-wheel drive vehicle is not required to stay with us. We hope your Holiday season is a peaceful one!
