Taos, United States – It’s a green architectural movement that took root in the desert of New Mexico some 40 years ago. That’s when Michael Reynolds, 69, began experimenting with building homes out of garbage and natural materials that he called “Earthships”.
1. Research the construction codes and regulations in your area
It is absolutely CRUCIAL to understand what your team needs. Do they need a toilet on the land itself? A spot for camping and making fires? How many meals a day will you be providing? If you are also facing land limitations, then make sure you have a back-up plan. Being able to go to the bathroom during a long hard day of work is not to be taken lightly! […]
Earthy, geeky getaway
So what did you think of “The Interview?” Surely you’re not the only person on the planet without an opinion. Oh, did you take advantage of holiday doorbuster deals last month? And do you have Valentine’s Day plans yet?
Sorry to get your blood boiling in just a few lines of text, but it’s to illustrate a point: The noise is stressing us out! Time to get off the grid. […]

I began working with stained glass 7 years ago, creating windows for Michael Reynolds’ Earthship homes in New Mexico and Montana. Some windows represent specific requests from clients, others were my own design, all are one of a kind originals. […]
I have never heard of “Earthship” when looking at green homes before, I am so glad I stumbled upon this article as It has really made me think about my own set up and maybe even changed my mind and build one for my family. Basicly an Earthship is a very green, sustainable home. “Earthships can be built in any part of the world and still provide electricity, potable water, contained sewage treatment and sustainable food production. The Most Versatile and Economical sustainable green building design in the world”
The great thing about these designs is Earthships catch water from the sky (rain & snow melt) and use it four times. Water is heated from the sun, biodiesel and/or natural gas. Earthships can have city water as backup. Earthships do not pollute underground water aquifers. Read more about this awesome way of living below.

As a citizen of the earth…
I fully have the right…
to harvest water from the sky
to grow my own food in my own home
to harvest energy from the sun and the wind
to contain and reuse my own waste on my own land
to make my shelter comfortable without the use of fossil fuels
and to harvest what […]
I Dreamed I was an angel,
I knew how to fly
I saw fire in the canon
burning red up in the sky.
I saw people in the darkness,
I saw people in the light.
They were singing to each other
and it echoed through the night.
WE WILL ALWAYS SURVIVE –
WE WILL LIVE FOREVER […]
Native peoples, plants and animals existed for many millennia without an adverse affect on the Earth’s ability to support life in general and humans in particular. These beings encountered earth phenomena for sustenance. They did not have an “economy”. They did not have “garbage”.
In the short amount of time that modern humanity has been […]
I HAVE FOUND A MAGNIFICENT HORSE
I HAVE SEEN THAT NO ONE CAN RIDE IT BUT ME
I CAN RIDE IT BECAUSE I KNOW ABOUT “THE WAYS”
BUT AFTER YOU USE “THE WAYS” FOR A WHILE
YOU LEARN THEM SO WELL
YOU DO NOT EVEN NEED THE MAGNIFICENT HORSE
SO YOU WANT SOMEONE ELSE TO BE ABLE TO RIDE IT
IT IS TOO BEAUTIFUL NOT TO BE RIDEN
IT IS AMAZING FEELING TO THINK OF PASSING THE
MAGNIFICENT HORSE ON TO SOMEONE… […]
