Earthship Biotecture will be host a benefit seminar Sunday (Aug. 18) for those interested in learning more about building while aiding a good cause.
The Earthship workshop is 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Taos Mesa Brewery.

Earthship Biotecture will be hosting a seminar/benefit this summer on Sunday, August 18th, 2013. The event will comprise of an all day seminar with Mike Reynolds, Phil Basehart and the Earthship staff and crew. This will be followed by live music and other activities such as a raffle and family events.
The cost of the all day seminar is $100. This includes lectures with Mike Reynolds and Phil Basehart, video showings, a tire pounding workshop and a Q&A session with Mike Reynolds at the end of the seminar. Lunch and a beer will be provided by Taos Mesa Brewery. This will also allow for entrance for the live music which will be held in the evening and throughout the night. This October, Earthship Biotecture will be joined by a team of student soldiers to build an Earthship flower design community center in Malawi, Africa. We are working together with a local NGO, Empower Malawi, to gather people and funds to spread the word and build two rooms (petals) over the course of ten days. The dates of this project are October 7th-16th, 2013.
The project, Kapita Earthship Community Centre, is to become a sustainable development epicenter for 38 villages and over 5,000 rural people in South East Mzimba district in Malawi. The Kapita Earthship Community Centre is to house a community bank, a mini library, a dispensary, offices and a food bank.

Project Build an Earthship in Rural Malawi!
The project, Kapita Earthship Community Centre, is to become a sustainable development epicentre for 38 villages and over 5000 rural people in South East Mzimba district in Malawi. We want to plant the seed of an ideal condition from which a sustainable community can grow and flourish from a radically sustainable building made with recycled materials. With a budget of US$70000, the Kapita Earthship Community Centre is to house a community bank, a mini library, a dispensary, offices and a food bank. - I am sure by now, all of you must have arrived home after doing a fantastic job on the Earthship Goderich Waldorf School Building project in Sierra Leone. The community, teachers and children are so grateful and proud of your work which has added a new look to the Rokel community. With the build, people are visiting every day to look at the structure with insatiable wonder. I am pleased to let you know that the local volunteers are doing well at building the other classrooms and will be able to complete the whole structure.

Earthship Biotecture offerred 10 internship places on the build in Sierra Leone, Africa in October of 2011. The chosen interns worked alongside Michael Reynolds, the Earthship crew and 30 local interns.
The project is a Waldorf school, with catch water, drainage and economical solar power systems. Interns receive the wonderful currency of knowledge in return for their hard work. In addition to free lunch, served on site each day.
This internship filled up quickly with a long waiting list.
