The Visitor center is a fully functioning Earthship that combines passive solar architecture with thermal mass construction, uses renewable energy, integrated water systems and is made out of natural and recycled materials. Our resource library provides an abundance of information in the form of books, videos and displays. All of our books and videos are also available for purchase.

Directions from Taos, NM to the Earthship World Headquarters:

  • Go through Taos North through El Prado.
  • You will come to a major intersection with a Conoco gas station.
  • You can go North on HWY 522, right to the Ski Valley or left on HWY 64 to the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge.
  • GO LEFT ON HWY 64 to the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge.
  • Earthship World Headquarters is about 1.5 miles past the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge on the right.

How To Arrange a Group Tour
Contact us if you would like to make arrangements for a group tour of the Earthship Biotecture Visitor Center in Taos. For $5 per person, your group will tour the center with a member of the Earthship staff; this includes a short introductory film about our company and a walk through of the building. Your guide will explain the basic Earthship theories and practices such as construction methods, systems packages, and design options. After touring the Visitor's Center Earthship, your group may explore the new E.V.E. (Earthship Village Ecologies) project under construction.

Earthship World Headquarters is easily accessible from Albuquerque International Airport (3 hours), Colorado Springs Airport (3.5 hours), and Denver International Airport (5 hours).

Driving Directions to Taos:

  • From the South: (Albuquerque) (175 miles). Interstate 25 north to Santa Fe, NM. US Highway 84/285 north (exit 282) to Espanola. State Highway 68 north to Taos.
  • From the East: US Highway 287 west to Amarillo. Interstate 40 west to Albuquerque, NM. Interstate 25 north to Santa Fe, NM. US Highway 84/285 north to Espanola. State Highway 68 north to Taos.
  • From the West: (Phoenix) (600 miles). Interstate 17 north to Interstate 40 east to Albuquerque. Interstate 25 north to Santa Fe, NM. US Highway 84/285 north to Espanola. State Highway 68 north to Taos.
  • From the North: (Denver/Colorado Springs) (300/240 miles). Interstate 25 south. Take the US-64 W exit, exit number 446, towards CIMARRON/TAOS.

Can I just take my family to visit the visitor center or does that require a group tour reservation? There will be 5 of us visiting Taos this Saturday.

Hi! I saw on Travel Channel what you are doing and I really would like to visit you guys. I will be in the area for few days, I have a day off on August 8, 2010. I am a Forest Engineer from Panama with a MSc in Tropical Ecology, now studying a PhD in Ecology at the University of Florida. Actually I am departing on Aug 9th, so I can volunteer for the complete day to help you guys hands-on in your construction projects. I will be waiting for news from you guys on my email.
